Patient | Frequently Asked Questions Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What can I expect?
A: The doctor, usually an orthopaedic surgeon, places the patient under local or light sedation. After a small one inch incision is made (dramatically smaller than would be made in a traditional invasive tendon surgery), the doctor then applies the TOPAZ MicroDebrider. The treated area is rinsed, closed and medication is administered.

Q: How long is the procedure?
A: Procedure lengths vary, however, the typical TOPAZ procedure can be completed in less than 20 minutes.

Q: How soon can I return to normal activity?
A: Some patients resume daily activities as quickly as 10 days post-procedure. However, typically, most patients resume activities within 1-3 months. Recovery rates vary by patient.

Q: Who can benefit from TOPAZ?
A: TOPAZ is an option for patients who are seeking a minimally invasive treatment for tendons and fascia. Please refer to benefits under The TOPAZ Advantage tab.

Q: Where can I find a physician who performs TOPAZ?
A: We have provided a convenient Locate a Physician tab to assist you in locating a TOPAZ specialist in your area.
